Brazilian mullein
Brazilian mullein (*Buddleja brasiliensis*) is a medicinal plant popularly used to treat respiratory issues—such as bronchitis, asthma, and coughs—thanks to its expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also used to relieve joint pain and skin irritation. Common applications include: Tea: Used as an expectorant and to soothe the airways. It is prepared using dried leaves (typically 1 tablespoon per 500 ml of water) and is ideal for helping to combat the flu and chronic catarrh. Poultice: Boiled, mashed leaves are applied directly to the skin to treat bruises, phlebitis, boils, and rheumatic pain. Essential Oil: Used to relieve ear infections and earaches (applied via a cotton ball).
